StoffwechselFit is meant to be readable and usable by everyone – with a screen reader, by keyboard only, with reduced vision or with colour vision deficiency. This statement describes voluntarily and honestly how far we have come.

Scope and standard

This statement applies to the website stoffwechselfit.com including the English edition under /en/. As a privately operated information service we are not subject to the statutory accessibility obligations of public bodies. We nevertheless voluntarily follow the German Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA.

Compliance status

The website is partially compliant with the requirements mentioned above. The essential content – articles, recipes, glossary, calculators and navigation – is accessible according to our review. The limitations listed below are known to us and are being removed step by step.

Known limitations

• Embedded third-party content after consent: Advertisements and other third-party content are loaded only after your consent. We have no influence on their accessibility; they may violate contrast, keyboard or screen-reader requirements. Without consent the website remains fully usable.
• Tables on small screens: Data tables, such as nutrition or measurement tables, scroll horizontally on narrow displays. The association of column headers with values remains correct for screen readers, but is visually less clear.
• Older articles: In a few older articles, alternative texts or heading levels may not yet meet the current standard. We bring them up to date with every review.

Measures implemented

• Skip link: The first keyboard focus on every page is the “Skip to main content” link, which bypasses navigation and header.
• Keyboard operation: All menus, links, forms, calculators and accordions can be operated fully by keyboard; focus is clearly visible and is kept inside the menu dialog. According to its vendor, the cookie dialog (CCM19) can be operated by keyboard; we check this continuously and report deviations to the vendor.
• Contrast: Text and background colours meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 : 1 for body text and 3 : 1 for large text and controls. The website respects the system setting for reduced motion.
• Alternative text: All informative images and charts have alternative text; inline graphics additionally contain a title and a description stating the depicted numbers in words. Purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
• study contexts without colour: The labels “established”, “plausible” and “open” are always conveyed as text, not only by colour. Measurement tiles also state their rating (“in range”, “elevated”) in plain text.
• Structure and language: Every page has exactly one main heading, a logical heading hierarchy, language attributes for German and English content, labelled form fields and tables with column headers.
• Scalability: Text can be enlarged to 200 % without content being cut off or overlapping; the layout adapts to narrow screens.

Preparation of this statement

This statement is based on a self-assessment using automated testing tools and manual tests with keyboard, screen reader and contrast checks. It is reviewed whenever the design or technology changes significantly.
