B vitamins and blood sugar

A direct blood-sugar-lowering effect of B vitamins is not documented . The authorised claims concern normal energy metabolism, the nervous system and the reduction of tiredness .

Why the product nevertheless belongs in this list

There is a concrete, clinically important link: metformin – the world’s most prescribed diabetes medication – can impair vitamin B12 absorption with prolonged use. B12 deficiency under metformin is well documented and can manifest as nerve damage that may be confused with diabetic neuropathy .

Anyone taking metformin should therefore keep an eye on B12 status – this is a case where supplementation is not wellness but medically justified. The decision, however, belongs with the doctor, including level measurement.

On the composition

All eight B vitamins with 500 µg B12 and Quatrefolic (bioactive folate, 5-MTHF). The bioactive folate form is a quality feature, as it works independently of individual conversion capacity.

What needs medical clarification

High B6 doses over long periods can cause nerve damage – pay attention to dosage. With known vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia, treatment belongs in medical hands.

What I can measure – and what not

No CGM test. Only the B12 laboratory value would be relevant – and that is only really interesting with corresponding medication or a vegan diet.
