The compounds one by one
Cinnamon
See the BLUTZUCKER article in detail: small to moderate, inconsistent effects on fasting glucose . In this complex, however, cinnamon is one of four components and correspondingly lower dosed.
Turmeric / curcumin
Curcumin is intensively researched. For insulin sensitivity and inflammatory markers there are studies with favourable results, partly also in prediabetes . The main problem is poor bioavailability – without piperine or a special formulation, little is absorbed.
Frankincense (boswellia)
Mainly studied for inflammatory joint complaints. A link to glucose metabolism is not robustly documented .
Ginger
Mixed data, see above.
Classification: This complex is clearly aimed at inflammation and joints, not at blood sugar. The cinnamon and turmeric content makes it marginally interesting for my topic – no more than that.
Tolerability and limits
Turmeric preparations can affect the action of anticoagulants and are not suitable in biliary tract disease. Clarify medically with existing medication.
How I want to check this
Secondary: as the complex does not primarily target glucose, I am not planning my own CGM series here, only a tolerability observation.
All of my own measurements are labelled as a single-case observation (n=1) and cannot be transferred to other people.
